Ladakh is sandwiched between two mighty mountain ranges of the planet the Himalayan in the South and the Karakoram in the North; one sees no horizon but just soaring peaks all over, thus we have innumerable options of climbing in Ladakh and the most popular are Stok Kangri, Kang Yatse, Mentok Kangri, Chamser & Lungser Kangri. Most of these peaks you requires special mountaineering skills except for stok kangri. You need to be a good trekker and must be fully acclimatized for these climbs. Some of the peaks give you a real opportunity to climb an above 6000m mountain within a week or more, which is not possible in any other part of the world.
To the south of Leh, in the Suru valley of Kargil District, lie Nun (7135 mts) and Kun (7077 mts) peaks with massif snows. Both these peaks are accessible through the Kargil-Padum road, Other options, to approach there are 12 days trek from Lamayuru and 10 days trek via Rangdum, tangol from Lamayuru. There are many other high-altitude snow-capped towering peaks in Ladakh region.
