Zanskar Motor Bike Tour

Day 1 Arrive in Leh:

Leh, the capital of Ladakh, nestled amidst the towering Himalayan peaks, sits at an elevation of 3,524 meters in a wide valley. Historically, it served as a crucial hub connecting Tibet, China, and India via the vital trade route along the Indus Valley. This route facilitated the exchange of not only essential commodities like salt but also luxurious items such as brocades, cashmere wool, silk, and indigo.

The grand old royal palace, constructed circa 1600, dominates the cityscape, serving as a tangible reminder of the kingdom’s former prominence. Offering breathtaking vistas, the flight to Leh marks the beginning of the exhilarating Wild Zanskar and Ladakh Himalaya Motorcycle Tour. Upon arrival, guests are transferred to a modest yet delightful centrally located tour hotel, providing ample time for relaxation and acclimatization. Our knowledgeable guide awaits at the hotel to lead us on a stroll to the Shanti Stupa, unveiling the area’s charm and tranquillity.

Day 2: Leh local sightseeing.

Our inaugural adventure with our Royal Enfield motorcycles leads us to two renowned monasteries nestled in the upper Indus Valley of Ladakh: Hemis and Thiksey. Embarking on a warm-up ride, we acquaint ourselves with the bikes while soaking in the breathtaking scenery. Hemis Monastery, dating back to the tenth century, holds deep significance, closely intertwined with the legacy of Yogi Naropa, the esteemed founder of the esoteric Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

Following our exploration, we return to Leh for the evening, where a delightful dinner awaits us at a local restaurant. We’ll spend the night at Lha ri Mo Hotel in Leh, resting up for the adventures yet to come.

Be sure not to overlook the breathtaking beauty of Ladakh’s Moonland en route.

Leaving Padum behind, we initially traverse paved roads en route to Reru before transitioning to dirt trails. Along the way, we’ll navigate narrow mountain ledges, experiencing the thrill of riding amidst breathtaking scenery. Gravel roads with steep inclines and declines add to the adventure as we progress towards Purne.

The highlight of the day awaits just before reaching Pure, where knee-deep sand, rubble, and stones promise an exhilarating challenge. As the day draws to a close, we’ll settle in for the night at a homestay by the Tsarap River, offering minimal amenities but maximum immersion in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
