Stok Kangri

Stok Kangri is 6000m+ peak, the peak is very close to Leh and during a clean and clear sky one can see the view of the peak. This majestic mountain offers beautiful views of the Karakoram and Zanskar ranges. The climb does not require special mountaineering skills and can be done in 4 days if one is well acclimatised. For a better acclimatisation, you could start the expedition from Spituk or Chilling or combine the climb with the Markha valley trek.

  • The trek begins from Stok village from the campsite, follow the trail upward as it enters into an amazing gorge.

  • The walk to the base camp from Mankarmo is less than 4km, a short and easy day before the big climb that awaits you, as you go through the valley, you get a clear view of Stok Kangri.

  • The summit day begins before dawn so that you have enough time on your hands. It takes few hours to reach the glacier.

Stok Kangri climb (6153m) from Spituk

  • Stok Kangri is the most popular 6000m+ peak in Ladakh. The climb does not require
    mountaineering skills but a good physical condition and a proper acclimatisation are
    essential. Starting from Spituk allows a good acclimatisation.

  • The trail to Rumbak village goes through a narrow gorge getting you into the Hemis
    National Park.

    the pass.
